Is there an accretion disk? How the presence of an accretion disk affects the outburst phenomenology?

Maybe more a question for the modelers:
If we have a disk and the gas in the disk is not exhausted in a normal outburst, what drives the outburst duration then? And what determines the differen outburst shapes?
